How to Get Gatorade Out of a Couch

Gatorade spills and stains can happen unless you cover your couch in plastic. However, rather than panicking and re-covering your couch or buying a new one, you can use simple stain-fighting techniques to get Gatorade out of a fabric or leather couch. Remember that stain-fighting is most successful the sooner you treat the stains, so get to work on them as soon as possible.

Instructions

  1. Fabric Couch

    • 1

Combine 1 ounce of spot cleaner and 1 quart of lukewarm water, and mix them thoroughly.

    • 2

Dip a white cloth into the solution. Test it by dabbing a small spot in an inconspicuous area of the couch. If the fabric appears discolored or damaged in any way, stop and consult a cleaning professional.

    • 3

Dab the stain with the cloth dipped in the cleaner, starting at the outside edges of the stain and working in.

    • 4

Rinse the fabric by dabbing it with a cloth dipped in clean water.

    • 5

Repeat as needed until the stain is removed. Then, let the area air-dry.

    Leather Couch

    • 6

Dip a damp white cloth into liquid leather soap. Test it by dabbing a small spot in an inconspicuous area of the couch. If the leather appears discolored or damaged in any way, stop and consult a cleaning professional.

    • 7

Inspect the leather to see which direction it runs. This is called the lie. Gently rub the stain in the same direction as the lie until it is removed.

    • 8

Wipe the area with a damp cloth to remove the soap residue. Then, let the area air-dry.
