How to Remove Shoe Marks From Tile Floors

Although tile floors give a home an elegant appearance, they are just as susceptible to scuff marks as any other type of flooring. Black rubber-soled shoes are the most common cause of scuff marks found on tile flooring. Fortunately, this type of stain isn't difficult to remove. It must be done in a way, however, that does not scratch the surface of the tile.

Things You'll Need

  • Melamine foam eraser
  • Water-displacing spray
  • White rag
  • 1 gallon water

Instructions

    • 1

Flip your pencil upside down and use the eraser to remove the shoe marks on your tile flooring. This is a good choice if the shoe marks are few and of a small size.

    • 2

Wipe the shoe marks away with a melamine foam eraser if the marks cover a larger area of your tile flooring. You need to wet the melamine foam eraser so that it is damp before running it back and forth over the scuff marks.

    • 3

Spray the shoe marks with water-displacing spray if the scuff marks are stubborn. Wait 30 seconds and wipe clean with a white rag.

    • 4

Pour 1 gallon of water, 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1 tbsp. of borax and 2 tbsp. of ammonia in a bucket. Mix the homemade cleaning solution and use it with a microfiber mop to restore the tile floor to its original cleanliness.
