How to Remove Ink Stains on Bedding

Ink stains are inevitable when pens are kept near your bed or stored in your pockets. They can become a permanent blemish on your otherwise spotless bedding if they are not immediately cleaned. Thankfully, dry cleaning solvents and rubbing alcohol are available to help eliminate the stains, and they are effective at removing most, if not all, the stains when used as soon as they occur.

Instructions

    • 1

Spray the dry cleaning solvent onto a clean, cotton cloth, and saturate the ink stain with the damp cloth. Rinse the bedding under cool, running water.

    • 2

Soak a new cleaning cloth with rubbing alcohol, and blot the stain with the alcohol-dampened cloth to lift the ink.

    • 3

Pour laundry detergent directly onto the stain, and rub the detergent on it. Leave the laundry detergent on the stain for at least 12 hours to set in the stain.

    • 4

Rinse the bedding under cool, running water, and spray a laundry pre-treatment spray onto the stain.

    • 5

Set the washer to its regular cleaning cycle. Fill the washer with warm water, and pour 1 cup of laundry detergent into the washer.

    • 6

Place the bedding in the washer, and promptly remove the bedding after the cleaning cycle ends. Tumble-dry the bedding in the dryer, or follow the bedding's drying instructions to completely dry your sheets.
