Getting Wite-Out Off a Wood Desk

Wite-Out is the brand name of correction fluid manufactured by Bic. It first came about in the mid-1960s and has been popular among students and office workers since. Wite-Out easily allows you to make a correction when writing or typing on paper, but sometimes it ends up on your wood desk instead. Remove Wite-Out from your wood desk carefully to avoid spreading it and to preserve the wood in the process.

Instructions

    • 1

Allow the Wite-Out to dry completely so it’s hard. Trying to remove wet Wite-Out from your desk may spread the stain.

    • 2

Scrape the dried Wite-Out from the desk with your fingernail or a plastic putty knife to remove as much as possible. Wipe the desk with a damp rag to remove the residue.

    • 3

Moisten a clean rag with a small amount of mineral spirits. Gently wipe the mineral spirits over any remaining Wite-Out until it is gone. Wipe over the area with a damp rag to remove the mineral spirits and remaining residue.
