How to Clean Burnt Sugar From a Broiler Pan

A broiler pan is a two-section unit that consists of a bottom reservoir and a top grate. This type of pan is useful for cooking many types of foods. Getting burnt sugar on your broiler pan may seem like a stubborn stain, since the sugar crystallizes and hardens to the surface of the pan. Remove this type of stain easily by using the correct cleaning products and techniques.

      Fill the bottom reservoir with 1 cup of white vinegar, 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda.

      Place the bottom reservoir on the stove and heat it until the liquid is boiling. Boil for five minutes.

      Remove the reservoir pan from the stove and allow it to cool enough so that you can touch it comfortably.

      Wash out the reservoir pan using a cloth that has been moistened in hot, soapy water. The burned sugar should come right off.

      Rinse and dry the reservoir pan.

      Soak the top grate in the sink, using a solution of equal parts white vinegar and hot water. Soak for 20 minutes.

      Wet a cloth and sprinkle baking soda onto the cloth. Use this cloth to scrub off the top grate of the broiler pan.

      Rinse and dry the broiler pan's top grate.
