Crumple up newspapers and scrub the stain to remove as much oil as possible. If the oil stain is fresh, lay the newspapers on top of it to absorb as much as possible. Wear gloves to avoid getting oil on your skin. Discard the newspapers in a loosely tied bag and keep it in a well ventilated area away from your homes as the fumes may lead to a potential fire hazard.
Cover the stain with sawdust or kitty litter and leave it covered for 24 hours.
Sweep away the absorbent material with a broom and discard it in the same fashion as the newspapers.
Sprinkle powdered laundry detergent over the stain.
Pour hot water over the area and scrub the detergent into the stain with a wire brush or coarse-bristled push broom.
Rinse the area with water and allow it to air dry.
Inspect the area and repeat the process until the stain is gone if necessary.
