Getting Permanent Maker Off of a Microfiber Couch

Although the ink from permanent markers is meant to be lasting, as the name suggests, the stains can sometimes be removed. Microfiber couches are covered with a type of tightly woven material that is resistant to dirt and stains. For the best chances at success, treat the ink stain as quickly as possible, using the correct cleaning treatment for microfiber.

Instructions

    • 1

Wet a clean, white cloth with dry cleaning solvent.

    • 2

Press the cloth down on top of the marker stain. Don't rub the stain with the cloth or you may grind the ink farther into the upholstery.

    • 3

Fold another clean, white cloth and use it to blot the stain.

    • 4

Fold the first cloth so that you have access to a clean portion of the material. Wet the cloth again with the solvent if necessary and use it to dab the stain.

    • 5

Blot the area again with a dry cloth. Continue alternating between moistening the stain with the solvent and blotting it dry until you have completely removed the mark.
