Use a utility knife to gently scrape the stained carpet fibers. This helps loosen and remove some of the dried paint.
Apply rubbing alcohol to the dried paint. Wait a few seconds to let the alcohol penetrate the stain.
Wet a paper towel with soap and water. Blot the dried paint until the stain disappears. Rinse the carpet with clean, cool water and pat it dry.
Scrape up as much dried oil-based paint as possible with a utility knife.
Dip a paper towel into turpentine and blot the dried paint to loosen it. Turpentine usually removes most of the paint. Apply rubbing alcohol to the spot and blot it to remove the rest of the paint and turpentine.
Moisten a paper towel with water. Blot the carpet with the damp towel to remove the turpentine and rubbing alcohol. Pat the carpet dry with another paper towel.
