Wet a paper towel in water that is soapy with liquid detergent, and use the soapy paper towel to scrub up the majority of the nail polish if the polish is still wet on a non-wood table. Keep wiping until you can't remove more fingernail polish. Fold the paper towel frequently so that you always wipe with a clean towel surface.
Moisten a clean paper towel with an acetone-free fingernail polish remover if the spilled nail polish is dry. An acetone-free fingernail polish remover is likely to be the gentlest on the table. Wipe the nail polish with the moistened paper towel. Keep wiping until you can't remove more nail polish. Fold the paper towel frequently so that you always wipe with a clean paper towel surface.
Repeat Step 2 with an acetone-based nail polish remover if the acetone-free fingernail polish remover didn't work. If the acetone-based fingernail polish remover does not remove the spilled nail polish, then use pure acetone.
Wash the treated area with soapy water to remove all traces of fingernail polish remover and acetone. Rinse it well with a non-abrasive sponge, and use a towel to dry the area.
Moisten a clean paper towel with mineral spirits if the spilled nail polish is still wet and on a wood table. Wipe the bulk of spilled nail polish with the paper towel. Keep wiping until you can't remove more nail polish. Fold the paper towel frequently to always wipe with a clean towel surface.
Pour boiled linseed oil over all of spilled nail polish that is dried on the wood table. Allow the linseed oil to soak into the stain for three minutes.
Scrape the loosened nail polish remover off the wood table with a plastic putty knife.
Moisten a non-abrasive sponge with soapy water. Wring it out well until it stops dripping. Wash the treated area to remove all traces of the boiled linseed oil. Rinse the area well with a fresh non-abrasive sponge that was moistened with water and wrung well. Use a towel to dry the wood immediately.
