How to Clean Burned Tomato Soup Off a Pot

Tomato soup may warm the throat and fill the belly, but it also leaves a nasty stain on a pot if you burn it. Regular dish-washing alone often isn't enough to remove this type of burned-on stain. Remove burnt tomato soup stains on your pot by utilizing some common household products that help you restore the cleanliness, sparkle and shine to your cookware.

Things You'll Need

  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Stove
  • Nylon cleaning pad
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Dishcloth
  • Cream of tartar
  • Liquid fabric softener

Instructions

  1. Baking Soda

      Cover the inside of the pot with baking soda.

      Pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the pot.

      Boil the mixture on your stove for five minutes.

      Pour out the contents.

      Wash the pot using a nylon cleaning pad and hot, soapy water. The vinegar and baking soda will have dissolved most of the residue from the burnt soup.

      Rinse and dry the pot.

    Cream of Tartar

      Fill the pot with 1 quart of water.

      Stir 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar into the water inside the pot.

      Boil the mixture for approximately 10 minutes.

      Pour out the mixture, and wash the pot using a nylon cleaning pad along with soap and water.

      Rinse and dry the pot.

    Liquid Fabric Softener

      Pour liquid fabric softener into the pot. Use enough to completely cover the burnt residue.

      Wait for approximately one hour.

    • 14

      Wash off the stains with the nylon cleaning pad, soap and water.
