How to Get Nail Polish Out of Dry Cleaned Bedding

You're sitting on your bed painting painting your toenails and chatting it up with your best friend on the phone. You just found out that your crush might be crushing back and you couldn't control your excitement. You jump up in delight and before you have a chance to stop it — splat! The bottle of nail polish flew right out of your hand and onto your Egyptian cotton sheets. Apparently candy apple red looks much better on your fingernails than on your bedsheets. Nail polish spills can be tricky to clean up, but if you act fast you can beat the stain.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the bedding off of your bed. Pay close attention not to spread the nail polish if the spot is still wet. If there is an excessive amount of nail polish on the bed, blot the spot with a paper towel before moving the fabric.

    • 2

Drape the stained area over the opening of a small bowl. Pull the fabric tight and secure it with a rubber band.

    • 3

Apply acetone to the spot using a stainless steel spoon. Allow the nail polish remover to drip through the cloth and collect in the bowl below. Continue until the stain is no longer visible.

Dip a sponge in warm water and gently rub the stained area to remove the nail polish and acetone residue. Allow the bedding to dry completely before returning it to the bed.
