How to Get Bonding Glue out of Suede Furniture

Fast-bonding glue effectively helps you repair items around the house. But a spill or dribble of the same glue on your suede furniture causes a distressful cleaning dilemma. Inappropriate cleaning techniques result in the glue being spread further into the suede fibers or, worse yet, getting stuck to your skin. You can get bonding glue off your suede furniture with the right supplies and removal methods.

Instructions

    • 1
Sandpaper removes glue and other stains from suede.

Leave the bonding glue on the surface of your suede couch long enough to dry and harden. Rub sandpaper over the hardened glue, moving it back and forth to wear the glue residue down to the suede.

    • 2

Vacuum the bonding glue dust off your suede couch.

    • 3
Cotton swabs apply remover directly to the glue-stained fibers.

Moisten the tip of a cotton swab with acetone-based nail polish remover. Swipe the suede fibers that still have bonding glue on them. Continue to gently wipe the nail polish remover over the suede until the bonding glue residue is gone.

    • 4

Dampen a clean cloth with white vinegar. Sponge the surface of your suede couch to clean it.

    • 5

Press a dry cloth into the suede to absorb any excess moisture. Allow your suede upholstered couch to air-dry completely before using it.

    • 6

Lift and blend the nap by brushing the suede upholstery with a suede brush.
