How to Get a Burnt Orange Stain Out of a Stainless Steel Cooktop

A stainless steel cooktop is beautiful to look at when it's clean. Unfortunately, stains can form on the stove if you aren't diligent about wiping them off. If tomato sauce or another deep red sauce spills on the stove, it can turn into a burnt orange, stuck-on stain that takes a little bit of elbow grease to remove. When cleaning stainless steel, go in the direction of the grain of the metal to keep the surface shiny.

Instructions

    • 1

Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda onto the orange stain on the cooktop. Use a little less than a teaspoon.

    • 2

Squirt a small amount of dish soap onto a damp sponge.

    • 3

Rub the baking soda into the stain with the sponge and soap. The baking soda should be abrasive enough to scrub away the stain from the cooktop, and the soap will help remove any grease left from the stain.

    • 4

Rinse the sponge in water then wipe away the soap and baking soda from the cooktop to remove any residue left from the stain.
