How to Fix Pants With Bleach Spots

Unfortunately, when it comes into contact with colored fabric it leaves behind a noticeable stain in a matter of seconds. As frustrating and hopeless as it seems it is possible to reverse or conceal the damage caused by bleach on your colored pants. Use a safe cleaner and inexpensive products to get rid of the bleach spots for good.

Instructions

  1. Fixing the Spot

    • 1

Rinse the bleach stain thoroughly with cool water. Continue to rinse the stain under the cool tap until the bleach is completely removed from the fabric.

    • 2

Dampen a soft cloth with white vinegar and dab at the bleach stain. Do not use the vinegar until you are certain the bleach is completely removed from the fabric. Combining chlorine bleach and white vinegar creates a toxic chlorine gas.

    • 3

Continue to dab at the bleach stain until it is completely removed. If the bleach stain persists, rinse out the fabric with cool water and move onto the next step.

    • 4

Create a mixture of 2 tbsp. sodium thiosulfate, a product used to remove chlorine from bleach available at pet stores, and 2 cups water. Stir the ingredients until the sodium thiosulfate is completely dissolved.

    • 5

Dampen a soft cloth with the mixture and dab at the stain until it is completely removed. Rinse the pants with cool water and launder according to the label’s directions.

    Concealing the Spot

    • 6

Locate a fabric pen that matches the color of the fabric. If a fabric pen or marker is not available, grab a permanent marker if you are in a hurry.

    • 7

Color in the bleach stain with the marker. Overlap the fabric with the marker to create a more seamless appearance.

    • 8

Allow the fabric marker to dry before wearing the pants. Reapply the fabric marker after laundering or when the color fades.
