How to Get Dry Puffy Paint off of Walls

Puffy paint is a unique craft supply that adds color and texture to fabric, wood, plastic and paper. As the colorful, nontoxic paint is squeezed out of the tube or bottle, it puffs up to add texture to your craft. Puffy paint dries within two to four hours. If an errant squirt or your little artist has spread putty paint on the wall, it is most easily removed while fresh. You can get dry puffy paint off of the wall, but you should do so in a way that preserves the wall's finish.

Instructions

    • 1

    • 2
Vinegar helps safely remove puffy paint color from the wall.

Add 1 teaspoon of dish washing detergent into a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 cup of warm water. Stir the ingredients together with a spoon.

    • 3

Wet a clean cloth with the detergent and vinegar solution. Wring out the excess moisture.

    • 4

Place the cloth over the remaining puffy paint stain on the wall. Hold it in place for three to five minutes to soften up the residue.

    • 5

Wipe the softened residue with the soapy cloth to carefully remove as much of the stain as possible. Rinse the wall with a damp cloth.

    • 6

Pour rubbing alcohol onto a clean sponge until it's damp. Dab at the remaining puffy paint stain to remove the pigment.

    • 7

Rinse the surface of the wall with a damp cloth then blot it dry with another cloth.
