How to Get Rid of Stains on Nonstick Bakeware

Using nonstick bakeware means you don't have to add calories to baked goods by greasing the pan. A nonstick surface typically ensures low-maintenance cleanup, but food or oil stains that have baked or burned on require a little more effort. Use caution when getting rid of stains on your nonstick bakeware. Abrasive cleansers and scrubbers scratch the coating, compromising the nonstick surface. Remove food and oil stains from your bakeware with the right supplies and techniques.

Instructions

    • 1

Place 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a cooking pot. Add 2 cups of water and 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Stir the ingredients until blended.

    • 2

Bring the baking soda and vinegar solution to a boil on the stove. Pour the solution into the stained bakeware to cover the stains. Allow the vinegar mixture to remain in the bakeware until it's completely cool.

    • 3

Pour most of the solution out of the bakeware, leaving enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Roll an old nylon stocking into a ball. Scrub the stained areas of the nonstick bakeware with the nylon to loosen the stains.

    • 4

Squeeze two to three drops of dishwashing detergent onto the nylon stocking scrubber. Scrub the nonstick bakeware to remove the stains that were loosened with the vinegar and baking soda soak.

    • 5

Rinse the bakeware with water. Dry the bakeware completely with a kitchen towel.
