How to Get a Gray Ring Stain Out of My Cultured Marble Sink

Marble, even cultured and man-made marble, is susceptible to certain cleaning solutions and substances including water. Placing a glassful of water on your marble sink for a long time will cause the water to soak into the sink surface and leave a gray ring stain. Prevent this by sealing the marble with a sealant that repels water stains. This is absolutely essential for marble sinks and should be renewed every few years as the sealant wears off.

Instructions

    • 1

Scrub the stain with a piece of super-fine steel wool. Scrub in small circular motions around the ring stain until the mark is gone and blends with the rest of the marble sink surface. If the stain remains, continue to the next step.

    • 2

Add just enough water to 1 cup of baking soda to make a paste the consistency of peanut butter.

    • 3

Wet the cultured marble and spread the paste over the ring stain. The paste should be ¼-inch thick to draw out the rest of the stain.

    • 4

Cover the area with plastic wrap and let it sit for 24 hours.

    • 5

Remove the baking soda. Repeat the process if you can still see it.

    • 6

Rinse the sink with clear water and dry with a clean cloth.
