Dab the lipstick with tissue or napkins to remove the caked-on top layer. Do not rub the lipstick stain. Rubbing spreads the stain and causes it to become embedded deeper into the fabric. Use as many tissues as you need until there is no more lipstick transferring onto the tissues.
Cover the lipstick with baking soda. Let the baking soda set for a minute. Use a toothbrush to brush the baking soda off the stain. Sweep the baking soda off the fabric. The wet lipstick particles bind with the baking soda and are then removed.
Soak the stain with seltzer water. Let the seltzer water bubble over the stain. Add a drop of liquid dish-washing soap. Use a toothbrush to scrub off the stain.
Wet a cloth and rinse the seltzer water and detergent out if the fabric. Dab the area with a dry cloth to remove the water, seltzer and detergent mixture. Repeat this step as needed.
