Removing a Rust Stain From a Ceramic Vase

Rust forms on metal when it is exposed to air and moisture, and the flaky, brownish stains can transfer to other objects, such as your ceramic vases. Once the rust is there, it remains and spreads if not properly treated. Removing the rust stains from your vase must be performed with care to prevent harming the ceramic’s finish, which can be removed with harsh, abrasive chemicals.

  • 1/2 tbsp mild dish soap
  • 4 cups warm water
  • Soft cloths
  • 1/2 cup boric acid powder
  • 2 tbsp. table salt
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
