How to Get Rid of Rust on a Razor Blade

If you keep your razor blades in a damp place, they will eventually develop rust stains. If you don’t remove the rust, it will spread across the razor blade and can ruin it completely. Prevent rust from developing in the first place by storing the razor blade in a dry place. Wrap it in dry paper towels and place it in a zip top bag. Never store your razor blades in a shower, as this makes them susceptible to water and rust development.

Instructions

    • 1

Scrub the superfine steel wool over the razor blade. Use heavy pressure, but be careful not to scratch the blade or the handle if you have one. Continue scrubbing along the grain of the metal until the rust is completely gone.

    • 2

Dip a cotton swab into rubbing alcohol and rub it over the entire surface of the blade to remove the rust residue and any metal shavings.

    • 3

Dry the blade completely with a clean cloth.
