How to Get Fingernail Polish off an LCD Screen

Fingernail polish that ends up anywhere other than nails results in a stressful stain. An LCD computer or television monitor requires careful cleaning to avoid damaging the screen. Although nail polish remover is often recommended to remove nail polish stains on surfaces, the solvent can damage your LCD screen. You can get fingernail polish off an LCD screen by using supplies and stain removal methods safe for the surface.

  • 2 tablespoons isopropyl alcohol

      Soft cotton swabs help clean the LCD screen without scratching.

      Swipe wet nail polish off the LCD screen with a cotton swab. Wipe gently and discard the swabs as nail polish is removed. Continue this process to remove as much nail polish as possible.

      Fill a glass with 1 cup of water. Add 2 tablespoons of isopropyl alcohol to the water.

      Wrap a clean cloth around your fingertip. Dip the portion of the cloth into the diluted isopropyl alcohol solution.

      Dab the remaining fingernail polish stain on the LCD screen. Continue to gently moisten it with the alcohol solution to loosen the polish. Move to a clean portion of the cloth as the nail polish is removed.

      Wipe the LCD screen with a damp cloth to clean the surface. Dry the screen with another cloth.
