How to Get Ramen Out of Carpet

Ramen noodle soup is a staple in college dormitories and bachelor pads and homes, since it's a simple-to-make and inexpensive meal or snack. The soup contains long noodles and spices for flavoring. When a spill causes ramen noodles and spices to end up on your carpet, you must remove both the noodles and the liquid. Ramen noodle soup is also high in fat, resulting in a greasy stain that requires extra care to deal with.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the ramen noodles from the carpet with a fork. Dispose of them in a trash bag.

    • 2

Lay paper towels over the soup stain on the carpeting. Press down with your hands to absorb the liquid. Discard the soiled paper towels, and repeat this step to remove as much soup broth as possible.

    • 3

Cover the ramen soup stain with cornstarch to absorb any remaining moisture. Vacuum the cornstarch after 20 minutes.

    • 4

Dampen a clean cloth with dry cleaning solvent. Sponge your carpeting to remove stains from the soup. Blot the carpeting with a dry cloth.

    • 5

Mix 2 cups of warm water, 1 tablespoon of dishwashing detergent, and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar in a bucket. Wet a clean cloth with the solution. Wring out the cloth to remove excess vinegar solution.

    • 6

Tackle the remaining ramen soup stain by dabbing it with the detergent and vinegar solution. Blot the carpeting with a dry cloth to lift the stain. Repeat this step until the last trace of soup stain is gone.

    • 7

Rinse the carpeting by blotting it with a damp cloth. Press a dry cloth into the carpeting to absorb moisture. Let the carpeting air-dry completely.
