Taking White Wine Out of the Carpet

Vinegar Solution

• The first step to removing white wine from carpet is to soak it up. Use a clean paper towel or cloth and press it onto the spilled wine to blot. Create a cleaning solution by mixing equal parts of white distilled vinegar and warm water. Stir the solution to mix and dip a clean cloth into it. Rub the vinegar solution into the carpet in small circular motions to remove the stain. Follow up by rubbing the carpet with another cloth dipped into plain warm water.

Club Soda

• Chances are that if you're hosting a party, you have chilled club soda on hand. If someone spills white wine on the carpet during the festivities, simply saturate a section of a clean cloth with the club soda. Rub the soda onto the white wine to lift it out of the carpet. If the spill is large, repeat this process several times. Finish by blotting the club soda up with a clean, dry cloth.

Dishwashing Detergent

• If you have dishwashing detergent on hand, use it to clean the white wine spill. Fill a bowl with warm water and add a few drops of gentle liquid dishwashing soap. Stir the solution until bubbles form. Dip a clean cloth or an old toothbrush into the soapy water and rub it into the white wine spill. Blot the soap up with a clean cloth and repeat the process until the wine is removed from the carpet.

Baking Soda

• A simple way to clean a large white wine spill on a carpet is by making a baking soda paste. Mix 3 tablespoons of warm water with 1 tablespoon of baking soda to create the paste. Apply the paste onto the white wine stain using an old toothbrush and rub it in. Allow the paste to dry and then vacuum it up.
