How to Get Makeup Stains Out of a White Knit Blouse

Place a clean makeup sponge on the makeup stain. Press the sponge gently into the white knit blouse and hold it in place for 30 to 45 seconds. Makeup sponges have an absorbent quality and can soak up makeup from fabrics. If you do not have a makeup sponge available, use one slice of white bread instead, which also has absorbent properties.

Pour 1 tablespoon of club soda onto a clean, dry rag. Press the rag onto the stain, without rubbing it into the makeup. Blot the stain with the club soda, which acts as a neutralizer for stains on lighter materials. The white knit blouse may first appear to look darker in color because of the dampness from the rag, but as the fabric dries, the stain will look lighter.

Add a drop of mild laundry detergent to a bowl of water. Dip the white knit blouse into the bowl where the makeup stain is. Leave the fabric in the bowl for 10 seconds and remove it. Rub the area with a second dry rag to work the detergent into the stain. Suds should begin to lather over the fabric. Pour some water over the spot to rinse away the suds.

Fill a large pot with warm water. Soak the white knit blouse in the warm water, leaving it in the pot for 20 minutes. Take out the blouse and hang it in the bathroom to dry. Do not leave the blouse out in the sun or else the heat from the sun can cause the knit material to shrink.
