Instructions

    • 1

Pour 1 cup of talc or diatomaceous earth into a bowl.

    • 2

Mix oxalic acid and water in equal parts, about 1/4 cup each, and add them to the bowl.

    • 3

Stir the mixture with a plastic utensil until it forms a thick paste that resembles the consistency of peanut butter. Add more water and oxalic acid in equal parts as needed.

    • 4

Dampen the rust-stained area with a cloth saturated with distilled water. The area should be damp, not soaked.

    • 5

Apply the paste to the stain, making sure to cover it completely.

    • 6

Cover the area with plastic wrap using small pieces of tape to secure the edges.

    • 7

Allow the paste to remain on the stain for at least 24 hours.

    • 8

Remove the paste by gently scraping with a rubber or wooden utensil.

    • 9

Wipe away any residual debris with a clean cloth dampened with distilled water.

    • 10

Dry the area with a soft, dry towel. Repeat the process if necessary until the stain is gone.
