How to Remove Burnouts on Concrete

Whether you were racing or simply in a hurry, the stain that is left behind from rapidly moving tires is unmistakable. A burnout stain is the lingering stain from burnt rubber adhering to the concrete. This isn’t one of those stains that a little rain will take care of so you’re going to have to take matters into your own hands -- your concrete can once again be free of unsightly burnout stains with a little scrubbing.

Instructions

    • 1

Sweep away dirt and debris from the area with a broom.

    • 2

Saturate the entire stain with degreaser. If rain is a problem, place a sheet of plastic or a tarp over the stain to keep it dry.

    • 3

Allow the degreaser to sit on the stain for 15 to 20 minutes.

    • 4

Rinse the area with a pressure washer. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions closely for your pressure washer.

    • 5

Sprinkle powdered bleach-free laundry detergent over the area if there is any residual stain or discoloration.

    • 6

Scrub the detergent into the area with a coarse-bristled brush.

    • 7

Rinse the area again with the pressure washer.

    • 8

Repeat the process until the stain is gone.
