Hair spray is a harmless-looking substance that many women apply with reckless abandon. All it takes is a sunny day or a bright light to see that the spray is often diffused in many directions, landing on any and all objects in its trajectory. If you’ve discovered drops of dried hair spray on the frosted glass in your bathroom, try several homemade remedies to remove the tough buildup. Instructions

  1. Cornstarch Cure

    • 1

Mix a solution of 2 tablespoons cornstarch and about 1/3 gallon of lukewarm water in a bucket.

    • 2

Saturate a lint-free rag or paper towel and wipe the glass. Stubborn stains may require some elbow grease or gentle prodding with a fingernail.

    • 3
Vinegar and water is a tried-and-true glass cleaner.

Dry the frosted glass with another rag or paper towel and marvel at the shine and absence of streaks.

    Vinegar Vanish

    • 4

Mix a 50-50 solution of white vinegar and water in a bucket.

    • 5

Dip a rag or paper towel in the solution and then wipe the frosted glass.

    • 6

Wipe the glass again with a dry rag or paper towel.

    • 7
Many people will use only newsprint to wipe glass.

Apply white vinegar to the glass, full strength, if the 50-50 solution fails to lift the hair spray. Like cornstarch, vinegar is a workhorse glass cleaner.

    All Gone with Alcohol

    • 8

Saturate some cotton balls with rubbing alcohol.

    • 9

Wipe the frosted glass and apply pressure, as needed, to the hair spray deposits.

    • 10

Wet a lint-free rag or paper towel with warm or cool water and wipe the glass to remove all traces of the alcohol.

    • 11

Wipe the glass clean and buff it to a shine with a clean rag or paper towel.
