How to Soften Low Thread Sheets

Thread count refers to the number of threads found in each square inch of fabric. In every square inch the threads are woven together in all directions. Sheets with a low thread count have fewer threads woven together, which can cause the sheets to be stiff and less comfortable. If your sheets have a low thread count, there is an easy way to help make them softer and more enjoyable to sleep on.

Instructions

    • 1

Put the sheets in the washing machine on a hot or warm temperature.

    • 2

Pour in about 1/2 cup of fabric conditioner as the water is filling up, or a few shakes of baking soda. Let the cycle run through.

    • 3

Put the sheets in the dryer on a low heat, since a high temperature makes the threads more brittle.
