How to Remove Biro on Cloth

Biros, or ballpoint pens, often leave unsightly marks and stains on clothing. Especially if left forgotten in a pocket. While these stains may seem impossible to remove without damaging the fabric, you can save your clothing by using a combination of hairspray, laundry detergent and water. When working with ink stains, remember to treat them as soon as possible, to increase your chances of success.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your garment on a table or on top of your washing machine and place a clean piece of cloth under the stain to catch any leaks.

    • 2

Spray the ink stain with a small amount of hairspray and let sit for a few minutes.

    • 3

Mix together a small amount of liquid laundry detergent and a small amount of water in a bowl. Apply a small amount to the stain and rub the fabric.

    • 4

Toss the fabric into the washing machine and run a cold water cycle, using a gentle laundry detergent. If the stain isn't gone after the cycle has finished, reapply treatment and run a second cycle. Do not put it in the dryer, until the stain has been removed completely.
