How to Soften an Emblem on a Jersey

Emblems on jerseys are often hard patches that feel stiff and scratchy against the skin. Repeated washings will make a garment softer and the best way to break in a new jersey is by simply wearing it. There are also steps you can take to soften your jersey before you wear it. The jersey may never be as soft as your favorite T-shirt, but you can definitely make it more comfortable to wear.

  • Mild detergent
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • Dryer sheets

      Wash the jersey in a machine using mild detergent according to the directions on the garment's care tag.

      Add 1/2 cup baking soda once the machine hits the rinse cycle. Baking soda is a natural way to soften clothes.

      Toss the jersey into the dryer with a dryer sheet which, will make the jersey and its emblem softer.

      Wear the jersey to break it in and repeat the same steps every time you wash it.
