How to Wash Fishnet Stockings

When laundering fishnet stockings, it is important to take special care to not rip, snag or stretch the individual diamonds in the weave of the pattern. If you are not careful, they can become destroyed rather easily. For this reason, it is advisable to wash fishnet stockings by hand with a mild detergent meant for baby clothes, or delicates.

Instructions

    • 1

Put your fishnet stockings in a mesh laundry bag.

    • 2

Fill a large basin, or a sink with cold water. Add a few drops of mild detergent. Swirl the water around with your hand to dissolve the detergent.

    • 3

Submerge the laundry bag with the fishnets in it into the basin of soapy water. Keep it underwater, until it is saturated.

    • 4

Gently knead the bag of laundry with your hands. Do this for several minutes to ensure the contents are getting clean.

    • 5

Drain the water in the sink. Knead the bag with your hands to express excess liquid. Do not wring the bag.

    • 6

Refill the sink with cold water to rinse the fishnets. Submerge the laundry bag into the clean water and knead the contents to rinse away soap residue.

    • 7

Drain the water from the sink and knead the laundry bag to express excess water. Refill the sink again and repeat the rinsing process, until the water stays clean and soap-free.

    • 8

Remove the fishnets from the laundry bag. Roll them into a ball to express excess water. Try not to stretch them. Hang them to air dry.
