Devices to Steam Wrinkles Out of Clothes

If your clothing is wrinkled and you want to remove those wrinkles with something other than an iron, steam can be the solution. With a proper amount of steam, wrinkles can be quickly and easily removed from clothes. Additionally, steaming doesn't include some of the hassles associated with ironing, such as creases and ironing boards. There are several devices available that can be used to remove wrinkles from clothes.
  1. Clothes Steamer

    • Clothes steamers are small devices specifically designed to steam wrinkles out of clothing. These devices were first popular in clothing stores, as they allow for easy wrinkle removal without ironing. There is a hand-held portion of these steamers that dispenses steam and allows for the steam to be applied to different areas of the clothing without having to remove the clothes from a hanger or place them on an ironing board. Many clothes steamers also come with a long extension designed for hanging clothing. These devices are available for purchase at a variety of appliance stores, and have become increasingly popular for household use.

    Iron

    • A typical clothes iron can also be used to steam wrinkles out of clothing. Many irons have a steam button on them that dispenses a shot of hot steam out of the front of the iron. The steam button is especially helpful when steaming small areas of a piece of clothing. To ensure that enough steam is dispensed from the iron, there needs to be an adequate amount of water in the iron's water container. Generally, only a short spurt of steam is produced from an iron, as opposed to a constant stream of steam from a hand-held clothes steamer.

    Dryer

    • A typical household clothing dryer can actually be used as a device to steam wrinkles out of clothing. Although this process may take longer than steaming wrinkles out of clothing with a hand-held steamer, it is still an effective method of removing wrinkles. Take a warm, wet cloth or towel and put it in the dryer with the wrinkled clothing. The wet towel, mixed with the heat from the dryer, will create steam within the dryer that will remove wrinkles. Clothing will need to be left in the dryer for at least 20 minutes, depending on the severity of the wrinkles.

    Shower

    • For individuals who don't have the proper tools or devices to remove wrinkles from clothing, a simple shower inside a home bathroom can be used to remove wrinkles from clothing. Turn your shower on the highest heat possible and leave the shower running. Hang the piece of clothing in the bathroom on a towel rack or a door knob, far enough away from the shower where it won't get wet. Close the door to the bathroom and let the shower run, so a large amount of steam accumulates in the bathroom. Leave the clothes in the bathroom for 20 or 30 minutes or until the wrinkles are completely removed.
