How to Dry Supima Cotton

Supima is a non-profit organization founded in 1954 that promotes the use of American Pima cotton and regulates its quality. The name Supima is a licensed trademark that comes from Superior and Pima. Only textile and apparel products made from 100 percent American Pima cotton and is allowed to carry the name. Pima cotton is prized for its long fibers that allow it to be woven into soft, fine, high thread count fabric. It is also quite durable, as it can handle all or more of the wear and tear given to any other fabric.

Instructions

  1. Machine Dry Supima Cotton

      Place the Supima cotton into the dryer. Make sure that the lint trap is cleared.

      Set the dryer to tumble dry on low.

      Remove the Supima cotton item and fold it immediately to avoid wrinkling.

    Air Drying Supima Cotton

      Hang the textile or apparel piece on a drying line (use clothes pins) or rack outdoors or in an indoor spot with plenty of access to air circulation and direct sunlight. Hang it early in the day to maximize daylight drying hours.

      Remove the item from the line as soon as it is dry to the touch. The time this requires will depend on atmospheric conditions.

      Remove the Supima cotton item and fold it immediately to avoid wrinkling.
