Scrape any remaining food carefully off the suit coat with a plastic spoon.
Lay the suit coat on a flat surface, with the food stain facing up. Fold a white towel in half and place it directly under the food stain.
Pour club soda into a small bowl. Dip the corner of a clean, white cloth in the club soda.
Rub the edges of the food stain gently with the club soda, working from the edges of the stain toward the center. Continue in this manner until the food stain is no longer visible.
Dampen a clean, white cloth with dry-cleaning solvent if the stain is still present. Blot the remaining stain with the damp cloth. Start at the edge of the food stain and blot while slowly moving in toward the center. Continue in this manner until the suit coat can no longer absorb any liquid.
Blot the jacket dry with a white towel.
Place the suit coat on a flat surface with the food spots facing up. Place a white towel directly under the food stain.
Dampen a clean cloth with dry-cleaning solvent and blot the food spot from the outer edge toward the center. Continue in this manner until the spot is no longer visible.
Rub a prewash stain treatment on the spot. Launder the suit coat as you normally would.
