Place the newly dyed fabric in a bucket. Fill the bucket with enough white vinegar to cover the fabric. Allow the fabric to soak in the vinegar for 30 minutes. White vinegar is a natural odor neutralizer and also sets the new dye in the fabric.
Launder the fabric according to the care label instructions. Add 1 cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle to further deodorize the fabric dye odor.
Hang dry the fabric outdoors on a drying rack or inside, near an open window. Allow the fresh air to dry and freshen the fabric.
Treat remaining fabric dye odor on the fabric by laying the fabric on a flat surface. Sprinkle baking soda over the fabric to absorb the smell. Leave the baking soda on the fabric overnight. Shake the baking soda off and wash again, if needed.
