How to Use Peroxide to Wash Whites

When used straight out of the bottle, 3 percent hydrogen peroxide is a gentle stain-fighting and sanitizing agent. Many commercial cleaners and laundry soaps include peroxide because of its ability to lift stains from clothing and surfaces. Instead of using bleach, consider adding 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to your load of white laundry. Using peroxide is a safe and easy way to brighten your clothes and remove stains without using harsh chemicals.

Pretreat stains before washing by pouring a small amount of peroxide directly on the stain. Rub the peroxide in and allow the garment to sit for one minute. Rinse the garment in cold water.

Fill the washing machine with water. Refer to your clothing labels to determine the proper temperature. Keep in mind that using hot water will combine the power of peroxide with the germ-killing properties of hot water.
