Measure out the appropriate amount of liquid detergent. Front loaders will have a compartment to pour the laundry detergent, while top loaders require the detergent to be poured directly into the basin.
Place the sheets into the washer, and set the water temperature to hot. Always use hot water, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer, when you wash sheets. The hot temperature will kill germs that thrive on sheets.
Set the cycle to large and the spin to delicate. Larger cycles pump more water into the basin, giving the sheets more room to spread out. The delicate cycle will use gentle movements to wash the sheets.
Add a liquid fabric softener right before the rinse cycle to soften the sheets.
Hang the sheets to dry. Do not place them in the dryer, because they may begin to pill from rubbing against each other.
Use a mild detergent. Wool cannot be washed with regular detergent because it may make the fabric hard.
Set the washer to a large load and gentle cycle.
Stop the washing machine after one spin cycle, or set the washer to have only one spin cycle. This will help keep the sheets in shape and not stretch them.
Hang the sheets or lay them flat to dry.
