Sort whites to wash them separately. Frequently, whites can become dull when washed with other colors. Whites should always be washed with other whites with no exceptions.
Pretreat stains on white clothing with a stain remover before they go into the wash. This is best done as soon as a stain happens to prevent it from setting on to the white garment, which may make it more difficult to remove.
Check the labels on your garments to see how hot the water can be. The hotter the water, the more stains will be removed from the clothing. Wash the clothes in the hottest water the fabric will allow.
Add the clothing to the hot water along with a detergent that has a bleach alternative in it.
Add a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle.
Hang the clothes outside to dry. The sun is a natural way to bleach and whiten and dry clothes. Alternately, dry them on the cool cycle in the dryer.
