The Alpine Guide pants are constructed of soft-shell material, which is prized for its wind-resistant and stretch capabilities. The stretch-woven polyester is constructed from recycled soda bottles, worn out clothing and second quality fabrics to create a product that is both technical and sustainable. When your pants have fulfilled their full service and are no longer wearable, send them back to Patagonia for recycling in their Common Threads Recycling Program.
One feature of the pants is Patagonia's patented Deluge DWR waterproofing technology. This coating is applied to the finished garment to provide superior protection from wet weather. After thousands of machine washings and extensive use, the Alpine Guide pants will still repel water and keep you dry.
Technical features are not lacking on these climbing pants. A brushed interior lining provides softness next to your skin and eliminates the sticky feeling of perspiration. The elastic waistband, complete with additional belt loops, assures a perfect fit for all bodies. Multiple pockets, including those on the thighs, allow easy access for energy shots or snacks while mid-route. And the gusseted zipper cuffs with tie-down straps permit the pants to be pulled on and secured over a boot.
Although these pants were originally designed for climbing, the Alpine Guide Pants are a jack of all trades used for back-country skiing, cross country skiing or snowshoeing in spring conditions. The pants can also double as spring backpacking or ice climbing pants. By providing you with ample range of motion, plus protection from wind and water, the Alpine Guide Pants function well for outdoor activities in questionable weather conditions.
