Place the soiled diapers into the washing machine. If your baby only eats breast milk, then you do not need to rinse the feces from the diapers. You can rinse the diapers if you prefer with a sprayer that attaches to the tank of your toilet or shake the soiled diapers into the toilet to remove loose soil.
Wash the diapers with the prewash setting on the washing machine. Use cold water to remove the soil from the diapers.
Place 3/4 cup Clorox bleach and half the recommended detergent into the dispenser.
Set the washing machine to the hottest water setting. Set the washing machine to complete one extra rinse to ensure that the bleach does not remain behind in the cloth.
Fill the washing machine with the diapers but do not overload it. If the machine does not have enough space, it will not remove all the soils from the diapers.
Launder the cloth diapers through one complete cycle.
Remove the diapers and inspect them carefully for stains. Shake the diapers to examine them and wash them again if they appear dingy.
Hang the diapers to dry. Dry the diapers in the dryer if you prefer, but do not add fabric softener because it prevents the diapers from absorbing properly. Use the medium or high heat setting.
