Laundry Instructions for Nomex Coveralls

Nomex is a flame resistant fabric that does not melt, drip or absorb air to allow ambient combustion. This high temperature fiber is used in automotive racing, firefighting and as an under suit in the military to minimize flammable materials in clothing and protect the wearer. Remove stains and launder Nomex coveralls properly so the fabric retains its effectiveness.

Instructions

    • 1

Sort household laundry to wash and dry Nomex coveralls separately from other laundry items.

    • 2

Pre-treat any greasy stains on Nomex coveralls with a laundry pre-treater and follow the directions on the package. General pre-treater directions are to spray a liberal amount of the product on stains, rub the fabric together to allow the liquid to penetrate the fabric and wait about 10 minutes before laundering.

    • 3

Place the Nomex coveralls in the washing machine with household laundry detergent on a heavy cycle. Do not overload the washing machine as the coveralls need adequate water to move in the washing machine tub to clean all flammable oil and grease products out of the fibers.

    • 4

Dry your Nomex coveralls in the dryer. This fabric takes less time to dry than cotton clothing. Check the dryer occasionally to see if the coveralls are dry. Remove them promptly when they are dry.
