How to Hand Wash Jackets

Some jackets are too delicate to be tossed into the washing machine, even on the gentle cycle, and require washing by hand. Washing by hand eliminates the rough agitating action of the washing machine and keeps the jacket away from laundry items which could bleed or those pieces with zippers, buttons and other rough parts that might cause damage.

Heavy-duty liquid laundry detergent
Terrycloth towel

Instructions

  Dust loose dirt of the jacket by hand.

  Fill the sink with warm water and submerge the jacket. Swish it around until thoroughly wet.

  Add 2 tbsp. of heavy-duty liquid laundry detergent and rake your hand through the water until suds develop.

  Soak the jacket in the soapy water for three minutes.

  Squeeze all parts of the jacket gently to work the soap into the fabric.

  Drain the sudsy water and rinse the jacket thoroughly under lukewarm running water, until all soap suds are gone.

  Wrap the jacket in a terrycloth towel and squeeze it gently to remove excess water. Dry the jacket in the manner recommended on the care label.
