How to Get a Cranberry Juice Stain Out of a White Shirt

A glass of cranberry juice is a popular, healthy beverage. Cranberry juice is high in antioxidants and helps prevent urinary infection. But spill it on a white shirt and cranberry juice is a nightmare. Cranberry juice creates an acidic tannin stain. Many popular stain removal products are alkaline and will chemically react to make the stain harder to remove. Knowing how to properly remove a stubborn cranberry juice stain will clean a white shirt good as new.

  • White vinegar
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Chlorine bleach

      Fill a clean sink with a quart of cool water.

      Mix a tablespoon of white vinegar with a half teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent to the water.

      Soak the white shirt in the bucket for 15 to 20 minutes.

      Drain the sink.

      Rinse the fabric with cool water from the faucet.

      Apply rubbing alcohol to the stain if it still remains after the first rinse.

      Rinse the rubbing alcohol thoroughly from the shirt.

      Launder the shirt with detergent and chlorine bleach using the hot setting of the washer machine. Check the white shirt for any traces of the cranberry juice stain and repeat the process if the stain remains.
