If you've ever had a squeaky hinge or a bike chain that wouldn't move easily, you may have used WD-40 to remedy the problem. WD-40 is a petroleum-based lubricant that also helps to protect metal surfaces from corrosion. Even if you don't get WD-40 directly on your clothes when you are using it, your clothing may absorb the odor of the product. A simple, inexpensive means of removing the oily odor is to use white vinegar as a cleaning product and odor neutralizer.
