How to Get the Chemicals Out of Blue Jeans

You can remove the smell of chemicals from your pants with common household supplies and simple techniques to deodorize the denim fabric and make your jeans ready to wear.

  • White vinegar
  • Laundry detergent
  • 1 cup baking soda

      Place your new blue jeans in an empty bucket. Pour full-strength white vinegar over the jeans until they're covered.

      Allow your blue jeans to soak in the vinegar for 15 minutes.

      Transfer your blue jeans to the washing machine without rinsing off the vinegar.

      Wash your jeans using the water temperature recommended on the care label. Add laundry detergent and 1 cup of baking soda to the wash cycle to further deodorize the denim.
