I Need to Get Wrinkles Out of a Comforter Fast

Comforters are arguably the most important decor in our bedrooms. They visually tie our personal style and furniture together while creating an appealing retreat for sleep. When the comforter is wrinkled, it distracts from an otherwise perfect room. There are several ways to remove pesky comforter wrinkles, even if they are deep and persistent. All are fairly inexpensive and not very time consuming, and you already might have the supplies.
  1. Steam

    • A clothing steamer can remove wrinkles from your comforter. Simply follow the directions for clothing made of similar fabrics. If you don't have a steamer, try hanging the comforter in the bathroom as you take a hot shower. Close the door to really steam up the room. Allow the comforter to hang in the bathroom until the steam has subsided. Lay the comforter out on your bed, lightly smoothing away remaining wrinkles with your hands.

    Dampen

    • Cotton and polyester comforters can be tossed into a dryer with a damp cloth. Saturate a washcloth or hand towel, then ring out excess water. Load comforter into the dryer and put in the dampened cloth. Turn the dryer on high heat for cotton and on medium or delicate heat for polyester. Dry the comforter until the cloth is no longer damp. Remove comforter and place on bed. The wrinkles should smooth out easily.

    Iron

    • Press the wrinkles from your comforter with an iron. Refer to the comforter's care label for iron setting recommendations. Try ironing from the back side on thinner comforters. For thicker ones, use a clean, white pressing cloth on the top side of the comforter. Keep the iron moving to avoid burning the comforter through the pressing cloth. If ironing a silk comforter, be careful not to get water on it. Water can leave rings.

    Fluff

    • Fluff the comforter in your dryer. If your dryer is too small, a quick visit to a laundromat is the remedy. Set the heat to as much as the comforter can withstand. For example, cotton might use a hot setting but silk should be at only air or fluff settings. Start with 30 minutes. If that is not enough time, try 15 minutes more. Remove immediately and spread across bed, smoothing out as you go.
