How to Dry a Bed Runner

Bed runners are made out of various materials, including cotton, silk and polyester blends. If your bed runner becomes damp or if you wash it, you will need to dry it before returning to your bed because damp fabrics often attract the growth of mold and mildew. You also should take certain precautions when drying a bed runner so the fabric doesn’t shrink or warp.

Instructions

    • 1

Shake the runner gently to remove excess moisture. Avoid wringing it to squeeze out water, as this can wrinkle the fabric.

    • 2

Place a towel over a quilt rack or drying rack. The towel will serve as a cushion for the runner and will help to prevent wrinkles originating from the rack itself.

    • 3

Hang the runner over the rack by laying it on top of the towel. Smooth the runner with your hand to get out any folds or wrinkles.

    • 4

Leave the runner in a well-ventilated area that is warm but not in direct sunlight, which can fade fabrics. Touch the runner to determine when it is completely dry.
