How to Get Creases Out of Nylon

Track suits, windbreakers, bedspreads and draperies are all items commonly crafted from nylon. According to Fabric Online, nylon is a synthetic material that was first used to make women's stockings in the late 1930s. The material is favored for its structural strength, ease in laundering and quick drying time. After a long time in storage, your nylon fabric may display a crease or deep wrinkle mark. With a household iron and application of steam, you'll be able to remove it in no time.

Instructions

    • 1

Drape the nylon over your ironing board. Orient the fabric so that the raised side of the crease faces up.

    • 2

Set your iron to its warm or medium setting. Ensure that the iron is filled with water so that you will be able to emit steam.

    • 3

Hold the iron roughly three inches above the crease and dispense hot steam over the fabric.

    • 4

Place the iron lightly over the crease and move it gently back and forth until the crease flattens. Repeat steaming and ironing for each crease in the fabric.

    • 5

Hang the nylon fabric up immediately after ironing to prevent any further creasing.
