How to Fade Jeans Without Using a Washing Machine

Stores sell blue jeans in a variety of styles these days. Faded jeans, destroyed jeans or distressed jeans are a few of the styles available. However, these styles also cost a lot more money. Fortunately, you can get a unique look to your jeans by fading your jeans at home without using a washing machine. With a little bleach, you can fade your blue jeans to almost white.

Instructions

      Fill a bucket with water. Rinse out the jeans.

      Place the wet jeans on old newspapers. Lay them out flat.

      Fill a spray bottle with 1 cup water and 1/4 cup chlorine bleach.

      Spray the jeans with the solution. Turn over jeans and spray the other side.

      Add 1/4 cup bleach to the spray bottle. This creates a stronger solution.

      Spray both sides of the jeans with the solution.

      Continue to add 1/4 cup bleach to the spray bottle. Stop when you have equal parts water and bleach. Spray both sides of the jeans.

      Dry the jeans in the sunlight. The ultraviolet rays also help to fade the jeans. Place the jeans on an outdoor clothes line or on an indoor clothes rack in direct sunlight.
