How to Fold a Long-Sleeved Shirt Without Its Wrinkling

A wrinkled long-sleeved shirt can spoil your overall appearance. Even a classy outfit can become sloppy looking and be deemed unprofessional in formal environments. If you want to be sure that your long-sleeved shirts go from the laundry to the closet -- or to a suitcase -- without becoming wrinkled, work on your folding technique so that you can avoid creasing the fabric of the shirt in conspicuous places, such as the long sleeves.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the shirt face down on a flat working surface. Even out the shirt so that the shoulders and sleeves are symmetrical.

    • 2

Fold the left sleeve over and across the back of the shirt. Line the left cuff up to the right shoulder. The cuff and the seam should meet. Iron out any creases to the sleeve with your hands. Perform the same procedure with the right sleeve meeting up with the left shoulder. Both sleeves should be folded back so that you are left with the body of the long sleeve shirt.

    • 3

Fold both sides of the shirt in towards the middle of the back. It will look like you have two flaps on the back of the shirt. Line up the sections so the place where they meet is centered in the middle of the shirt.

    • 4

Bring the bottom portion of the shirt up. Touch the bottom hem of the shirt to the point where the two sleeves are folded up at the shoulders.

    • 5

Make a second fold from the bottom up. This will fold the shirt in half, leaving you with the top section of the shirt showing, and the rest folded back. Put away the shirt with the collar facing up, so that the collar does not become smashed and creased.
